Clonegal is a small village just across the county
border in Co. Carlow. It is about 4 kilometres from Bunclody. It is the southern end of
the Wicklow Way. The Wicklow Way is a beautiful walk of about 100 kilometres and goes all
the way to Marley Park in Dublin city.
Embedded in the bridge is a memorial to the men of
the village "who gave their lives for Ireland in 1798" It was erected in 1938.
There is a nice picnic/resting area beside the large trees. Also there, is a very
informative map of the area.
